Welcome to the Tuesday Author Interview with Christina Boyd for the Who, What, When, Where, and Why.

CHRISTINA: I first became acquainted with indie author Bianca Nara on social media. I've enjoyed watching her journey on social media, and her enthusiasm for marketing and craft is inspiring.

Do you listen to music while writing? Do you make up Playlists for your books?

BIANCA: I love to create playlists for my books! It can help me get in the mood to write or sometimes a song really holds the emotion or lyrics perfect for a scene or character. I think it’s such a great element to have in my process even if I don’t listen to it while writing. Usually, when I write, I listen to soundscapes or instrumentals, so the lyrics don’t clash with the words in my head.

CHRISTINA: When did you first think you had a book to write and how did you start?

BIANCA: I realized it after I read romance books that touched on topics and themes close to my heart, and I realized I could also share my own story, life lessons, and experiences through my writing. I started simply by taking my experience and plugging them into characters!

CHRISTINA: What comes first: plot or characters?

BIANCA: Characters come first for me. I prefer to build a plot around my characters as I really love to know who my characters are, what their challenges are, their fears and desires, their story arc. Building their personalities and finding their voice are some of my favorite parts of the writing process.

CHRISTINA: Hmmm... Makes sense. It's often to easier to write about a character when you know them better and let the story unfold.

What is your current project or latest release?

BIANCA: My debut novel, The Only Song, released last November 2024. It is a rivals-to-lovers contemporary romance following two violinists on a music tour.

CHRISTINA: One of my favorite tropes!

Favorite contemporary author:

BIANCA: My favorite contemporary authors are Elsie Silver and Emily Henry. They both inspire so much of my own writing.

CHRISTINA: Thanks for your time. I know you've had a lot to juggle lately, and I appreciate your time for this interview. Best wishes on your writing and next project.

I enjoy learning how authors make their stories. Love the idea of rival violinists.
